Collection Overview
Scope and Contents of the Materials
The Suggestions to Lot Owners of the Green-Wood Cemetery series contains informational pamphlets on provisions for lot maintenance and the preservation of ownership. Arrangement is by the edition number and date, beginning with the 4th edition, printed in 1883, and continuing up to the 35th edition, printed in 1941. Each edition varies slightly, but all the pamphlets contain the same information: an essay on the importance of bequeathing money for lot maintenance, amendments to the cemetery charter, legal forms for lot owners, and an updated list of monetary amounts held in trust for the care of lots. The container listing also indicates the number of extant copies for each edition.
