Scope and Contents: The Boundary Marker Photographs series contains snapshots and occasional sketches of boundary markers throughout the Green-Wood Cemetery. The back of each photograph is stamped with a date and a note of the maintenance performed for each marker; most photographs contain additional handwritten notes on the lot. Sketches contain notes and simple drawings of borders in relation to neighboring lots or roads.
The date range of this series is from 1964-1966. These photographs were taken in order to ensure proper record keeping for the Green-Wood Cemetery as well as the families of those interred. A request for maintenance is stated in most of the wills of those interred in this cemetery; these photographs document the maintenance of the cemetery plots in a visually appealing way (more than handwritten notes can provide).
