Scope and Contents: The Raoul Pene Du Bois "Sugar Babies" Collection includes various paintings and drawings of costumes and set designs done by Du Bois, primarily for the musical “Sugar Babies”. It also includes scripts from the play and newspaper articles advertising the play, as well as various documents including paystubs and letters addressed to DuBois.
All items were purchased from Swann Auction Galleries for the Green-Wood Historic Fund Collections. Du Bois was interred in the Green-Wood Cemetery in 1985. The Cemetery, established in 1838 and designated a National Historical Landmark in 2006, is continuously acquiring historical and cultural documents, materials and ephemera about its noted permanent residents.
