The Green-Wood Cemetery

Green-Wood’s archives are comprised primarily of institutional records produced by cemetery staff as a result of day-to-day business activities conducted from its founding in 1838 to the present. As a result of Green-Wood’s long and venerable history, the archives are abundant with original source materials documenting the creation, development, and activities of The Green-Wood Cemetery as well as its permanent residents.

The records are a vast store of genealogical and historical information, including heirship records, burial orders, lot records, family correspondence, and affidavits.

The finding aids in this database represent only a portion of the materials held by the Green-Wood Archives. For additional information, please email archives@green-wood.com.
